Settle Your Mind With Essential Oils

Universal Mind

When we worry and over-think things too much we can cause our minds to go into overdrive which can cause confusion, restlessness and hyperactivity. Worry causes worrisome thoughts – stories we make up in our mind of things that are not yet happening or, most likely, will never happen. The result – we cause undue stress on our mental and physical bodies, making our nervous system go ‘haywire’ inside. This can lead to stress which down the road, can lead to unwanted physical ailments and dis-ease. Along with changing/adding some lifestyle techniques, essential oils, especially when used on a daily basis, can aid us in living a more stress-free life by settling our minds.

The qualities & essential oils that we will need to aid us in re-balancing our minds and bodies and help us become more in-sync with life’s ebb and flow are:

~ grounding – benzoin, vetiver, sandalwood, patchouli
~ comforting – sandalwood, lavender, marjoram, chamomiles, geranium, cardamom
~ regulating – clary sage, geranium, mandarin
~ clarifying – frankincense, clary sage, geranium, lemon, grapefruit, cardamom
~ harmonizing – frankincense, lavender, mandarin
~ reflective – frankincense, sandalwood, myrrh, clary sage

My favorite way, and one of the easiest ways, to get the benefits of essential oils every day is by using an Aromatherapy body oil. Not only will you see a difference in your skin, but you get the benefits of absorbing the molecules contained within the essential oils through inhalation and skin absorption – two of the many ways in which Aromatherapy can be used daily.

Shanti Body Oil ~ This body oil I formulated contains a synergistic blend of (among others) 5 of the essential oils listed above, making it a perfect ally to settling your mind everyday and keeping your mind and body in harmony with life’s challenges. It’s scent is soft, peaceful, comforting and grounding. Use Shanti Body Oil to unwind every day. Keep it in the shower and massage it on your wet skin after bathing, then towel dry. I also use it at night to massage my feet, ears, head and neck before going to sleep. A great soothing mind~body treat to add to your nightly ritual.

If you love Lavender, then you’ll love Balance Body Oil – another scent that calms the mind, body and soul.

You can also make your own body oil by using 1 or a combination of 2-4 essential oils listed above to create a blend. Once created, add 9 drops of your essential oil blend to an ounce of base oil such as sweet almond oil. Shake gently and use as described above.
Enjoy!

*Important Note: Before using any essential oils, check with your medical practitioner if you have any health concerns or conditions or if you are pregnant or nursing.
