Scapbooking ~ Guest post by Vanilla

Hi there! My name is Vanilla and I have been scrapbooking for around 8 years. I began around the time I had my first daughter. I have always been interested in art or craft of some description and over the years and I have enjoyed decoupage, card making, scrapbooking and most recently, art journaling.

I love scrapbooking because it allows me to leave my day to day routines for a little while, escape to my craft desk and simply create. Here, I am not a wife, or a mum, or a teacher, I am just me. I find that this time to myself, to create a beautiful page or play with papers, photos and embellishments, is food for my soul. I think it is something we are all meant to do – whether it is baking a cake, gardening or painting… I think in some way we are all creating and following our passions and is what life is all about!

It is very easy to start scrapbooking. I am always inspired by scrapbooking magazines and keep a journal of sketches and layouts that I like. The next stop is a trip to your favourite local or online scrapping store. I began with a craft mat, cutting knife, metal ruler and adhesives. You can then add to your tool kit with punches, fancy edged scissors, a paper trimmer and a cuttlebug. The best part about scrapping is the glorious ranges of papers and embellishments. My favourite brands have to be Kaisercraft, Basic Grey, K&Company, Prima and Webster’s – to name a few!

Thank you for the wonderful invitation Gina! I am truly grateful to share some thoughts on scrapbooking and what it means to me! Please feel free to pop over to my blog, Vanilla Essence, and take a look at what I have been creating lately! xxx
