Me Time
First Listed June 29, 2008
Lately I’ve been having some restless nights thus not sleeping as well. I’ve been a little draggy during the day, having a hard time starting projects and then, of course the body comes into play and throws my digestion off. So, I sat down one day and realized that I’ve been slacking in the ‘me time’, big time. I was slacking in the ‘take care of me’ rituals I usually do and thus my body and mind was rebelling. So I decided that I am the only one responsible for ‘me’ and got back on track and started taking the time I need to keep my body balanced. Here are some things that keep me ‘on track’ and in the present moment:
- meditating every morning-even if it’s only for 5 minutes
- getting to bed before 11 pm
- waking up before 8 am
- shutting the computer down by 8 pm (ok maybe 8:30 pm
- practice yoga 4-5x per week
- eat mindfully
- list my top 3 projects to do each day (so I don’t goof off wondering what I should be doing and end up getting nothing done)
- take a day off from the computer every week
- schedule vacations (even if they are just stay-at-home ones, which I love too)
- read one magazine a week (so maybe I can put a dent in the pile that’s stacked in my room)
- do breath-work every day-it’s amazing how shallow we breathe if we are not aware of it
- be grateful for what I have every day
- play with Roxy every day-I always did this anyway, but just wanted to put it on the list
- eat one square of dark chocolate a day and no more than that!!! and eat it before 4 pm so I’m not staring at the ceiling at 2 am
This is my list. Your list will be different because we are all unique and resonate with different things. What’s on your ‘me time’ list? Write them down. You’ll know what’s right for you. Trust your inner knowing-it’s pretty powerful how we really do know what’s best for us even though we don’t always choose it. Then later on we realize that we didn’t listen to our gut feeling we had. We chose with our head and know next time we’ll listen a little more carefully.
Take time out, sit and be, and notice how you are feeling at this very moment.
With gratitude,
Gina

It’s sad really, I started making my list, albeit mentally and I got sidetracked before I finished the first one lol.
Perhaps I should just have one thing on my list. Can I borrow Roxie?
