Hawk Came To Visit

I was at home on a teleclass today and spotted a hawk outside my window. It’s a beautiful hawk who comes to visit occasionally.

He (assuming it’s a he), looked like he was staring right at me through the window. I grabbed my phone and snapped as many pics as I could before he flew away (because his visits are short and far in between).

That’s the best pic I got out of all the shots, plus it was through a window.

It made me wonder and curious as to why I was visited by him today so I looked it up in a book I have called Animal Speak.

The book said that hawks are the most mystical birds of prey and they are the messengers, the protectors, and the visionaries of the air.

Here is some of what the book said about the meaning of the Hawk appearing:

- helps you see how to use your creative energy to manifest your soul purpose (loved this one)

- it reflects a need to be open to the new or shows you ways that you may help teach others to be open to the new (this really hit home for me!)

- Hawk awakens your vision and inspires you to a creative life purpose

- Hawk makes you aware of being attacked by people who won’t understand you or the varied and different used of your creative energy (this was interesting)

Overall I found the meaning of what the Hawk totem animal represents to be very inspiring and a declaration that I’m on the right path – especially with a new endeavor that will be announced in my next newsletter, so I thought that was pretty cool.

But here are some characteristics of hawks that I found to be very interesting:

- Females are bigger because they are the protector and guardian of the nest (you go girls!)

- They have the keenest eyes of all raptors

- Both male and female care for the young (talk about 50-50)

- They tend to mate for life

- They usually stay in their home territories for life and can live up to 14 years in the wild

My main Spirit Totem Animal is the fox. I have a really cool fox story that I may share here one day.
