Decision Making – the key to knowing you made the right choice

First Listed July 8, 2011

I had a little decision-making revelation today (ok, well, actually it was a huge one), and I wanted to share it with you. It’s not actually something that is new to me and it may not be new to you either (you may have this heard talked about before, but have you ever REALLY felt it?).

I have to say that today, I truly felt within me, the answer to how you know you made the right decision………...it’s all about the response within…….the response your body gives you when you’re about to, or already have, made a decision…….and truly being aware of, and realizing, that your body is actually giving you a signal, is the key to knowing you made the right one for YOU.

If you do not realize this, well, then you will feel uncomfortable or angry, without knowing that the feelings you are having are because of the decision you made. Or you will miss the exhilaration you feel after making the right decision for you. You may be walking around happy, but not truly knowing why. But if you were happy and said, ‘wow, I am feeling so good right now……that decision I made really empowered me…..I’m going to check in with my body more often.’

How much more effective would your decision making be if you truly realized this?………….and checked in before you actually made the decision? I believe the effect would be HUGE!

You may even feel sad about a decision you made, but after checking in, you will notice that your body is telling you it was the right one. You will know it’s the right one because even when you realize you are sad, you are ok. You’re not walking off huffing and puffing or diving into the chocolate cake that’s in the fridge…….you will notice the peace within you, even amongst the sadness.

The learning here is realizing that making a decision may make you feel happy or sad – but by checking within and noticing your body’s responses, you will KNOW whether that decision you made was right or wrong for you.

That is the key to making empowering decisions! Check in. Check in with your body and notice the responses.

I agree Gina. A technique I’ve been trying when trying to decide between 2 options is to go to bed having chosen one and see how I feel when I wake up. Do I feel light, at ease, comfortable. Or do I feel uneasy, agitated, etc. Then, the next night I go to bed having decided on the other option. Then I compare how I felt over the 2 days. It means I take 2 days to decide, but I think it’s time well spent!! And it feels more natural than writing down pros and cons, or endlessly talking it through with people.

Love that Michelle! I’m going to try that next time….so you are using your body and your subconscious mind to figure it out for you as you sleep……very cool!
And yes, taking more time to decide, I agree, is so worth it instead of making a hasty decision and regretting is afterward.

Thanks so much for sharing this valuable insight!

    Molto amore!
